Waterproofing is the one trade you never see — and the one you can least afford to get wrong

Residential waterproofing is hidden work. Once the tiles are down, no one sees the membrane again — until it fails. And when it fails, the cost of rectification is many times the cost of doing it correctly the first time: stripped bathrooms, damaged ceilings below, mould remediation and weeks of disruption.

In Queensland, waterproofing of domestic wet areas is a regulated activity. It must be carried out by a QBCC-licensed waterproofer, installed to AS 3740, and certified with a written inspection certificate before tiling proceeds. This protects you at resale and for insurance — but only if the work is done and documented correctly.

We waterproof homes across Brisbane, the Gold Coast and SEQ — new builds, renovations and remedial repairs. Every wet area is installed to standard, inspected and certified, and backed by a written warranty.

Compliance for homeowners

What compliant residential waterproofing means

These are the protections a licensed, certified installation gives you — and the reasons DIY or unlicensed work costs far more in the long run.

  • QBCC-licensed installation — wet-area waterproofing is a regulated activity in Queensland and must be done by a licensed waterproofer.
  • AS 3740 compliance — the Australian Standard for domestic wet areas, required under the National Construction Code.
  • Written inspection certificate — issued before tiling, protecting you at resale and for insurance.
  • Written warranty — a documented warranty on every installation, honoured without dispute.
Common questions

Residential Waterproofing FAQs

Yes. In Queensland, waterproofing of domestic wet areas is a regulated construction activity that must be carried out by a QBCC-licensed waterproofer and certified with a written inspection certificate. Unlicensed waterproofing cannot be certified and can create problems at resale and with insurance.

Application itself is usually one to two days depending on size and complexity. The membrane then needs to cure — typically 24 to 48 hours under Queensland conditions — before tiling can begin. We coordinate timing with your tiler to keep the renovation moving.

Yes. Leaking balconies are one of the most common residential problems we address. We diagnose the cause — failed membrane, cracked grout, blocked drainage or inadequate falls — and specify the correct repair, which often involves replacing the membrane beneath the tiles.

Yes. Where we carry out wet-area waterproofing, we provide written inspection certificates confirming AS 3740 compliance. These are valuable documentation at resale and for building inspections.
