Roof Restoration, Brisbane & Gold Coast

Cleaning, repair, repointing, recoating and waterproofing of existing roofing systems — extending service life, restoring weatherproofing and protecting the broader building fabric.

Why SEQ roofs need attention

A demanding UV, hail and biological-growth environment

Brisbane and Gold Coast roofs face intense UV radiation that accelerates coating degradation, increasingly frequent hail events that crack concrete tiles and dent metal roofing, and moist subtropical conditions that promote lichen, moss and algae.

That biological growth traps moisture, accelerates tile deterioration and blocks gutters. Older homes in suburbs like Nundah, Clayfield and Holland Park often have concrete or terracotta tile roofs now well beyond their original coating lifespan.

Periodic restoration is often far more cost-effective than full replacement — and is essential to protecting everything beneath the roofline.

Our process

Our roof restoration process

  1. Inspection & assessment

We check tile condition, ridge capping integrity, flashings, valley gutters, penetrations and existing coating condition, and provide a documented report.

  2. High-pressure cleaning

Biological growth, surface contamination and failed coating are removed using controlled high-pressure washing and biocide treatments.

  3. Repairs

Broken tiles are replaced, ridge capping is raked out and repointed with flexible polymer-modified mortar, and flashings, valleys and penetration seals are repaired or replaced as required.

  4. Recoating

Premium roof membrane and coating systems appropriate to the tile type — concrete, terracotta or metal — are applied in your specified colour, all carrying manufacturer warranties.

  5. Waterproofing

Flat or low-pitch areas, box gutters and parapet junctions receive approved membrane systems to Australian Standard AS 4654 requirements.

  • Flexible polymer-modified ridge repointing
  • Coating systems matched to concrete, terracotta or metal
  • Manufacturer-warranted membrane and coating products
  • AS 4654-compliant waterproofing to flat and box-gutter areas
  • Storm-damage documentation for insurance where applicable
Roof Restoration — FAQs

Common questions

If the underlying structure and most tiles are sound, restoration is generally the right choice — we assess this at inspection. Where more than 30–40% of tiles are cracked or structurally compromised, or the batten and sarking system has failed, replacement may be more economical.

A quality restoration with premium coatings typically extends roof life by 10–15 years. Actual lifespan depends on coating quality, substrate condition and ongoing maintenance.

Yes. Heritage roof restoration requires matching original terracotta tile colours, profile types and ridge detailing. We work on heritage-listed Brisbane properties and collaborate with conservation practitioners where heritage approval conditions apply. See Heritage Restoration.

Storm damage to roofing is commonly covered. We prepare detailed scope-of-works and photographic evidence reports for insurer assessment. See Storm Damage Restoration and Insurance Repair Works.
