When you need one

The basis for action, not just observation

We provide remedial consultations to property owners, strata bodies corporate, insurers, legal representatives and property managers across Brisbane and South East Queensland. Our reports draw on hands-on remedial construction experience — not just desk-based advice — giving clients recommendations that are directly actionable. You may need a consultation if you:

Have a building inspection report identifying defects but need an experienced builder’s view on scope and cost of repair; are in a dispute with a builder, strata manager or insurer and need an expert assessment; have noticed cracking, leaking, mould or structural movement and need to understand cause, extent and options; are purchasing a property with known defects; or are a strata manager needing a credible assessment of reported defect claims.

Our process

What a remedial consultation includes

  1. Site inspection

By a senior Innovare Restoration practitioner with direct remedial construction experience.

  2. Photographic record

A documented photographic record of all identified defects and areas of concern.

  3. Written report

Findings, probable causes, references to applicable standards, and prioritised recommendations.

  4. Indicative scope & cost

An indicative remediation scope and cost range so you can plan and make decisions.

  5. Specialist referral

Referral for structural engineering, asbestos survey or mould air testing where warranted.

More than an inspection

Actionable, standards-referenced advice

A standard pre-purchase inspection identifies observable defects. A remedial consultation goes further — identifying probable causes, referencing construction standards, providing a prioritised plan and indicative costs. We aim to schedule non-urgent consultations within 5–10 business days.

  • Senior practitioner site inspection
  • Probable cause, not just observed symptoms
  • References to applicable construction standards
  • Prioritised remediation recommendations
  • Indicative scope and cost range
  • Report suitable for strata, QBCC and insurance processes
Remedial Consultation — FAQs

Common questions

A standard pre-purchase inspection identifies observable defects. A remedial consultation goes further — identifying probable causes, referencing applicable standards, providing a prioritised remediation plan and offering indicative costs. It is the basis for action, not just observation.

Our reports are prepared to a standard appropriate for strata disputes, QBCC complaint processes and insurance assessments. If a formal expert witness report is required for court, we can discuss the additional requirements with your legal representative.

We aim to schedule non-urgent consultations within 5–10 business days. For urgent situations — visible structural movement, active water ingress, council notice response — we prioritise rapid attendance. Call 0488 773 232 to discuss your timeframe.

For anything beyond minor maintenance, a consultation is strongly recommended. It ensures the repair scope addresses the actual cause of the defect (not just the symptom), and provides documented evidence for insurance, strata or council purposes.
